History

D&R, launched in 1997, resided in a modest 900 square foot space and specialized in repairing and rebuilding custom machines. With the business growing, the year 2000 brought both new endeavors and a new location on Route 67 in Alton, Illinois.

Because the heart of D&R focused on repairing and rebuilding machines, D&R established Alton Machine Works in 2003. Its full-service machining repair division took over a 30,000 square foot building within the Alton Steel Business Park. The combined machining capabilities and reputation created one of the leading machine shops in the Midwest.

In 2010, D&R moved to a new facility in order to accommodate and expand its machining capabilities in an emerging market. Currently located minutes from St. Louis, Mo., D&R’s 38,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility offers technical expertise in rolling mill services, CNC machining, manual machining, repairing, rebuilding, fabrications, welding, engineering and design.

More recently, D&R’s technologically advanced facility focuses on doing its part to reduce the carbon footprint it leaves behind. Leading the industry in green innovation, the shop generates 23 percent of its own energy. Today, D&R is one step closer to the goal of being carbon neutral.
